Kilimanjaro National Park, home to Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain, is one of Tanzania’s most popular parks.

In 1987, UNESCO inscribed Kilimanjaro as a World Heritage Site for its uniqueness.

Mount Kilimanjaro is located in northern Tanzania, near the border with the Republic of Kenya in East Africa.

Rising suddenly from the open plains, covered in snow and often framed by clouds, Kilimanjaro is one of the classic images of Africa. Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano, but not extinct.

Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano, but not extinct. In addition to the mountain, the park has other attractions and is home to rare endemic species of flora and fauna: 2,500 species of plants and 140 species of mammals have been recorded.

The main tourist activity in the park is mountaineering, where tourists climb the mountains along the available routes.

Anyone with reasonable fitness can conquer Kilimanjaro. The climb usually takes 5-6 days, with 4-5 nights in a comfortable mountain hut.

There are several routes, including Marangu, the most popular and easiest to climb, Machame, Shira, Umbwe and Rongai.
